Abstract Clock
$73,000
*includes installation and customized marketing campaign
Description
This spectacular installation will immediately attract bypassers and visitors’ attention if installed in an open space with tall ceiling and plentiful daylight.
This kinetic piece, made up of 160 multicoloured silicone cords will change one’s perceptions of what a clock can be.
Each cord is connected to a central rotating cam arm that turns at a rate of one revolution per minute. One by one the strings are lifted, slowly rising 2.5 metres from their starting point. The result is an immersive wave of color that is first encountered at ground level, just above the visitor’s heads.
The visitors’ experience will be similar to the one of surfers when they're in the barrel of a wave.
The original Abstract Clock was installed inside the Victoria & Albert Museum as part of the London Design Festival in September 2016.
